Preparation of a Book Proposal. Assist author in preparing book proposal materials, including a synopsis, biography, expanded Table of Contents, marketing strategy, competitive title analysis, and sample chapter(s). Literary Representation. Identify suitable agents and/or acquisition editors at publishing houses. Craft customized query letters, and represent authors and their work during proposal submission and contract negotiations. Collateral. Design and print new business cardsfor author. Help create any print collateral related to author’s project (book marks, rack cards, post cards, etc.). “Tradigital” (Traditional/Digital) Marketing. Design and develop strategic plan for digital marketing/social media; train author to use social media. Plan may include: purchasing/transferring domain name(s); webhosting; installation; design and SEO architecture; blog, Facebook Page, Google +, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts. Develop and execute traditional marketing strategies: news releases, interviews, speaking engagements, book signings. Book Development Services. Provide background information on publishing industry and book business; prepare author for expectations and demands of publishers and editors in publication process; answer questions. Writing Coach. Provide customized coaching options: writing exercises, research tips, structural development, dialogue style, voice, strategies for managing information and manuscript preparation. Coaching offered online, via email, telephone, Skype, secure screen sharing, and/or face-to-face sessions. Editorial Services. Provide customized editorial services: line editing, structural rewriting, and copyediting for style and digital submission requirements. Prepare bibliography, references, citations, copyright permissions, appendices, figures, illustrations, photos, diagrams, and indices. Research. Assist in fact-checking, sourcing back to original references, investigating subject-related matters, and/or performing research related either to manuscript or to publication, promotion, and marketing of author’s work. Dissertation Manuscripts. Prepare thesis/dissertation manuscripts for digital submission according to university and departmental style requirements. Media Metric Reports. Prepare monthly social media metric report for author to measure effectiveness in building audience platform and to offer recommendations for growth and expansion.
